Flame-Retardant PC Film for Home Energy Storage

    2026.09.14

Residential storage units need compact electrical separation and clear service markings near energized parts, but bending and assembly can weaken a poorly chosen film part.

Use the Flame-Retardant PC Film category to identify a grade for electrical screening. The Printable Grade PC Film is relevant only if the service cover also carries durable graphics; its listing cannot substitute for the required flame and dielectric documents. The Dafu functional film range keeps the comparison within Dafu's functional products.

    Compact equipment concentrates several risks

A residential battery cabinet may place busbars, terminals, inverter electronics and service access in a limited enclosure. A thin cover can separate energized parts and carry warning graphics, but holes, folds and fasteners create local stress. A film that passes a flat-sheet test may crack during forming or lose clearance after assembly. The material decision must follow the actual voltage architecture and part geometry.

Where flame-retardant PC enters the design

Dafu lists Flame-Retardant PC Film within its functional film range. It can be evaluated for formed or die-cut insulation covers where the project requires PC processing behavior together with a grade-specific flame requirement. Printable Grade PC Film is a related route when durable graphics are central, but printability and flame performance should not be assumed to come from the same unverified grade.

Flame performance does not approve electrical insulation

The design team should obtain the precise flame classification, thickness, test method and certification document for the candidate grade. Separately request dielectric strength, volume resistivity and thermal data with their conditions. None of these values should be transferred from another PC grade. Creepage, clearance, edge distance and fastening are properties of the assembled cover and system, not of the film alone.

Stress the converted part before release

Form, fold, punch and print the cover using production tooling. Inspect whitening, cracking, springback, burrs and ink damage around bends and holes. Install it with the intended clips, screws or adhesive and check movement during vibration and thermal cycling. Repeat electrical and flame-related verification after conversion where the applicable standard requires it. Confirm that warning text remains visible during service and that the part cannot shift toward energized hardware.

Give the supplier an electrical drawing

Send Dafu the part drawing, voltage class, minimum insulation distances, current material and thickness, flame requirement, forming method, printing system, operating temperature, fastening points and regulatory market. Identify the observed failure, such as cracking at a fold, inconsistent print, insufficient stiffness or interference during assembly. Dafu can then identify which grade documentation and sample format should be reviewed before prototype testing.
