PC film can pass flat-sheet inspection and later crack from a die-cut edge during forming, bonding or assembly. Tool wear, tight internal corners and residual stress must be separated from bulk material defects.
An engineering plastic film manufacturer should receive the film grade, gauge, cutting method, drawing and crack location. Optical quality alone does not describe edge durability.
Map the Crack Origin
Inspect holes, notches, slots and tight radii under magnification. Mark cutting direction and identify whether cracks begin at burrs, heat-affected edges or formed corners.
Compare Tool and Process Conditions
Record blade condition, clearance, cutting speed and support surface. Keep forming and cleaning conditions constant when comparing tools or film lots.
Test the Real Assembly
Apply the actual adhesive, clips, screws and thermal cycle. Check whitening and crack growth around loaded edges. Send Dafu the drawing, process settings, images and failed parts.
